When the girls of Metro 13 North were told that there were no longer separate Club and Open divisions at their upcoming NVPL tournament, they were nothing but excited. One might have expected them to be concerned about the tougher level of competition, but not these Warriors. They were ready to take their game to the next level and to see how they could perform against some open teams. And boy, did they deliver!
They opened pool play against American 13, and convincingly won in 2 sets. This was followed by a much tighter match against NVVA Select 1, where the Warriors pushed through some challenging rallies to prevail and bring their record to 4-0. They finished pool play 6-0 after defeating one of NVVA's club teams, 13 Grey.
This impressive first-place finish landed Metro 13 North straight into the Gold Semi-Finals, where they faced their sister team, Metro 13 Travel. The Warriors prevailed in 2 sets and went onto the finals to play NVVA Select 1. After a very close first set (26-24), the Warriors dropped the second set to finish second for the day with a final record of 8-2.
Despite the loss in the finals, it was an excellent day for Metro 13 North!
