Elizabeth Strimer - 13 Travel Head Coach - 2016

Metro VBC Elizabeth Strimer - 13 Travel Head Coach - 2016
Since the age of 5, Liz has been on the volleyball court.  Whether it was watching her mother – former setter at the University of Kentucky – play in adult leagues or learning how to serve at Mishawaka, Indiana’s Network Volleyball Club, her earliest memories involve the great sport she continues to love today.  In high school, she played for Michigan City’s Dunes Volleyball Club, setting for its 17s team that placed 3rd at nationals in the Open Division and leading its 18s team to a National Division championship.

Liz set for Marshall University all four years of her college career.  During her time there, Marshall won the Conference USA Regular Season Championship, and she received conference, academic, and All-American honors.  In addition to spending the majority of her time with her beloved teammates, Liz was also heavily involved in Marshall’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes where she met her husband (Metro 13s Travel Volunteer Assistant Coach Luke Strimer).  While at Marshall, she majored in International Affairs and French.

Following the conclusion of her playing career at Marshall, Liz began her coaching career as an assistant coach for River Cities Volleyball Club’s 13s Travel team in Huntington, West Virginia.  She moved to Washington, DC in 2011 to pursue a Master’s in International Affairs at American University.  She has continued to stay involved in the volleyball community playing for her adult USAV team Oh Hey! and coaching for American University’s summer camps.

She currently works for a member of the U.S. Senate.
