Kristen Falcinelli returns to Metro as the assistant coach for the 14 East team for the second year. This is her eighth year coaching, and has experience coaching camps and clinics, club teams, and high school varsity teams. She previously coached club at Virginia Elite as an assistant for the 16s team and Maine Juniors as a head coach at the 15s level, and is also in her third year as the assistant varsity volleyball coach at the Academy of the Holy Cross.
 
Kristen has over 13 years of playing experience at the high school, club, and collegiate levels as a setter and opposite. Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, she played indoor for Maryland Juniors and Montgomery Village Sports Association and beach for Evolution Volleyball Club, where she qualified for and competed in USAV Open Beach Nationals. She played high school volleyball at the Academy of the Holy Cross, where she was a member of the 2012 and 2013 WCAC championship teams and a WCAC All-Conference honoree. In college, she was a 4-year starter at the University of New England and received the Coach’s Award, Most Improved Player Award, and Best All-Around Player Award. She was a captain her senior year and consistently led the team in assists, service aces, and digs, and was also a conference leader in these categories. She finished third all-time in career assists at UNE and was named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference Academic Team three times.

 

After graduating with a B.S. in both Applied Mathematics and Marine Science, Kristen moved back to the DC area and now works as an oceanographic data specialist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Silver Spring.
